Hymns and Pimms

On 6th August, we held our Hymns & Pimms event in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s Church, Sullington. It was a sublimely tranquil and calm evening as we gathered together in the churchyard. It was wonderful to enjoy a lovely, cool and refreshing Pimms in the warmth of the early evening sunshine outside the historic Grade I listed church.

Thank you to Pegi, Gail and Anna for providing our delicious Pimms. It was such a friendly, sociable and happy occasion, and we welcomed both old and new friends.

Before our gathering, everyone had given Kay, our pianist, their favourite hymns, many of which brought back memories of school, church, Brownies and Guides. These included Light of the World and Be Still, for the Presence of the Lord – “the Holy One is here” – which I’m sure some of us are still quietly humming to ourselves today.

Thank you to Carol for so beautifully linking the evening together, and to Revd. Beth Izzard for sending us on our way with a lovely blessing.
