Like all other churches in England, St Mary’s Church, Sullington, was unable to accommodate a Remembrance Day service in the church on November 8th due to Government distancing guidelines and restrictions. The service was instead delivered to the congregation via Zoom. However, the church is open to the public for private prayer during the daytime, and the opportunity was taken to decorate the church in honour of the fallen as per the photos below. Three wreaths – from Storrington and Sullington Parish Council, Gatwick Submariners Association, and The British Legion were laid at the Memorial. In addition, the 1st Sullington Brownies laid a number of pebbles – beautifully hand-painted by the Brownies – at the memorial (see below). The Remembrance decorations will remain in the church until 23rd November for the benefit of those visiting for private prayer. Our thanks go to our chief flower-arranger for the beautiful arrangements.
Below the photos you will find a video of our Act of Remembrance service.
